What is IOP?
IOP combines regular, structured treatment with time outside the program to practice skills and maintain everyday routines. It may be considered when weekly visits are not enough or when someone needs continued support after a higher level of care.
How the levels of care differ
IOP is generally less intensive than PHP and more intensive than routine outpatient visits. Neither involves an overnight stay. The screening team considers symptoms, safety, and daily functioning when discussing the right level of care.
